The export resolution depends on the kind of file you export from our editor. Files in PNG or JPG formats have fixed resolutions whereas PDF and SVG files can be scaled up or down without losing any quality.
Fixed-resolution files
PNG and JPG sound wave images are exported in 300 DPI (dots per inch) to provide the maximum quality for printing. The exact resolution will depend on the canvas size you chose but in general, all canvas sizes have a maximum a width of 12000 pixels. This is the perfect resolution for print that 40 inches or 101.6cm wide.
There are more resolution options available within our editor. Our system will generate the image in a lower resolution if you select that option. You can see this option under Download tab once an artwork is purchased.
Vector files
PDF and SVG files are vector files. This means that their contents are mathematical equations that are calculated based on the resolution required for the use case. An SVG file can be used to generate both an image with 600 pixels in width and an image with 12000 pixels in width. Both of these images would have the quality. PDF is essentially a more advanced vector file that can include more complex elements inside. It is widely supported by printers of all brands and models. Therefore a PDF export is the best choice for portability.
β οΈΒ If you import a custom background image to your artwork, maximum lossless quality will depend on your image. Our sound waves are vector but your custom image will not be vector. Therefore, we cannot enhance its resolution. Please make sure that you upload the highest resolution available of your image.
